Sewer Lateral Tool

This markup tool is designed to assist you in drawing sewer lateral lines when you know the exact distance to each lateral from a manhole. Here is how it works...

First mark the lateral connection points

  1. Click on the Markup tool and click the "Laterals" button.
  2. Click on the point where your documented measurements are measured from (ie manhole 1)
  3. Next, pick a reference point marking the direction of the measurements (ie manhole 2).
  4. Then, type in the distance to a lateral in feet and click "OK." Repeat this step until all of your distances are marked.
  5. As you enter each distance, a small tick mark will be placed on the map at the respective distance. This tick mark will serve as a drawing aid when drawing your laterals in using the steps below.

Then draw your laterals

  1. Click on the Draw tool and select your Sewer Laterals layer. If you do not have a Sewer Laterals layer, you can create one.
  2. Click the starting point of the lateral line which should be a point at or near the building
  3. Mark the ending point of the line by clicking on one of the tick marks created using the Laterals button above.
  4. Click the Done button to complete the line
  5. Click Add
  6. Repeat steps 2-5 for the other laterals.
